Seizure First Aid
🚨 Seizure First Aid: What Should You Do?
If someone is having a seizure:
• Stay calm and stay with the person.
• Protect the person from injury by moving nearby dangerous objects away.
• Cushion and protect the head.
• Do NOT put anything in the mouth — no spoon, fingers, water, or medicine.
• Do NOT try to stop or restrain the movements.
• Do NOT give food, water, or oral medicine until the person is fully conscious.
• When possible and safe, turn the person onto their side after the seizure to help keep the airway clear.
• Note the duration of the seizure.
• Stay with the person until they recover and are fully alert.
• Seek emergency medical help if the seizure lasts more than 5 minutes, repeats without recovery, the person is seriously injured, has difficulty breathing afterward, or it is their first seizure.
⚠️ Remember: Never force anything into the mouth during a seizure.
